Bringing Ballet to The Communities We Serve

We operate by the motto: Be a Good Partner. Deos Ballet works to be a good partner to the West Michigan community through outreach, free performances and open rehearsals, and collaborating with other non-profits in the area. To learn more about our recent Community Engagements, explore below.

Border Cantos | Sonic Border Student Interactive Experiences

Grand Rapids Art Museum

18 Student Interactive Experience performances from February-April 2024

Deos Contemporary Ballet dancers perform a new 20-minute dance choreographed to Guillermo Galindo’s composition featured in the museum exhibition, Sonic Border. After the dance performance, students are divided into small groups, each with a professional dancer as their group facilitator. During this time, the groups engage in discussion exploring how both movement and music can transcend language and cultural barriers to bring people together. A short movement workshop will follow within the small groups. Each group will focus on a theme inspired by the core concepts of the exhibition. Working together, with insight from the professional dancer, the students will use movement and the original soundscape to express their theme. Sponsored by Studio 616 Photography.
